    What data is required when processing Level 2 and Level 3 purchasing cards?


    Level 2: (Business or Corporate Purchasing Cards) What is Level 2 Data?

    • Standard Info 
      • Credit Card Number 
      • Expiration Date 
      • Billing Address, Zip Code, and Invoice Number if manually keyed instead of swiped
    • Customer Code 
      • Cardholder provides this 6-digit number; otherwise, enter 111111
    • Sales Tax 
      • An amount between .1% and 22% of the transaction amount must be submitted separately from the total transaction amount. Only taxable transactions can qualify for Level 2. (tax amount is not required at fuel locations with MCCs 4468, 5541, 5542, 5499, and 5983).

    Level 2 data processing is supported through all Paya Gateway products and virtually every physical credit card terminal as well. Older credit card terminals such as the Zon Jr. and Tranz 330 do not support Level II processing.

    Level III data processing is only supported through Paya's Virtual Terminal 3 (VT3), a custom integration through the XML Web Services, as well as many other third-party gateways, and software applications.

    NOTE: When processing Level 3 transactions, the transaction must be processed as a pre-authorization first. Additionally, the pre-authorization amount and the settled amount must be the same and the transaction must be settled within 2 business days.
