How do I change my Card Verification Value (CVV/CVV2) settings in the Virtual Terminal?

    Description

How do I change my Card Verification Value (CVV/CVV2) settings in the Virtual Terminal?

    Resolution

In the Virtual Terminal, select Configuration --> Risk Controls and look for the options labeled "CVV for Shopping Cart Interface," "Advanced CVV Options" and "Apply CVV Options to" (you must be signed in as an Administrative User).

CVV for Shopping Cart Interface -- This option controls whether the CVV field on your Shopping Cart's checkout page is 'Required' or 'Optional'. By default, the checkbox is empty, and the field is optional; check the box and save your changes to make it required.

*Please Note: Making the CVV field required only means that the customer using your Shopping Cart must enter some number to proceed. To configure your cart to require the correct number, please continue reading.

Advanced CVV Options -- This option controls if the Virtual Terminal will automatically void transactions based on the CVV and, if so, which ones.

    • The first selection is None - The Virtual Terminal will take no action based on the CVV response.
    • The second selection is Require CVV Exact Match, Void All Non-Matches - The Virtual Terminal will void all transactions unless an "M" (Exact Match) is returned for the CVV.
    • The third selection is Require CVV Attempt, Void CVV Declines - The Virtual Terminal will not void any transactions unless an "N" (No Match) is returned for the CVV.

Apply CVV Options to -- This option can be set to Domestic, International, or both. It determines whether the Advanced CVV Options (above) apply to only domestic or international cards, or to both.

*Whether a card is considered International or Domestic is determined by the AVS Response received when the transaction is submitted. If the AVS Response is B, C, D, G, I, M, or P, then the card is considered to be an International card. Otherwise, the card is found to be a Domestic card. If you receive a "CVV Failure" message on a transaction or would like for another reason to verify the AVS Response on a particular transaction, please contact Support at 877-470-4001.

If you have questions or require additional information, please submit a ticket, and we will be in touch with you shortly.
