Error: Encrypted information could not be read in Sage 50

    Description

What does an "encrypted information could not be read" error mean in Sage 50?

    Resolution

"Encrypted information could not be read or written because a data file is missing or damaged. Call Technical Support for assistance."

This error occurs when trying to access a stored credit card number.

Please follow these steps to isolate the cause of the error:

    1. Go to 'MAINTAIN/CUSTOMERS' and, without selecting a customer record, click on the 'CREDIT AND PAYMENTS' tab. Please make sure the Customer ID is blank.
    2. Click the 'CREDIT AND PAYMENTS' tab.
    3. See if the 'VIEW/EDIT CC INFO' option works with the blank record.

If it works on a blank record, but not on an existing customer, it indicates that the credit card was stored under a different Merchant ID and Merchant Key. Please contact Paya at 1-877-470-4001 for assistance.

If it does not work on a blank record, it typically indicates that a Program File -- KMSKeys.XML -- is either damaged or absent. Please contact Sage 50 at 1-866-747-3888 for assistance.

If you have questions or require additional information, please submit a ticket and we will be in touch with you shortly.
